KersTech Hybrid Vehicle Systems
Business Summary: KersTech is developing an economical, hybrid-electric retrofit to convert the US’s fleets of heavy, urban-use, frequent stop/start vehicles. Patent pending technology offers non-invasive, bolt-on installation, significant fuel and emissions reduction and quicker paybacks. The 1 Million plus city and school buses, waste, freight and utility trucks are an initial $60B market. KersTech’s capital efficient business model outsources production. Primary sales direct to fleets. OEM & new vehicle upgrade applications later.
Customer Problem: Fleet operator budgets are squeezed by rising fuel costs, decreasing revenues/subsidies & tougher emission laws. They own fleets of expensive vehicles with long services lives, and new OEM hybrid vehicles have a prohibitive cost upcharge.
Products
The KersTech bolt-on system uses a large diameter, high torque electric motor with a 90º gearbox to retrofit in limited drivetrain space. Kinetic energy recovery and plug-in re-charging extend battery range. The system installs in 2 work shifts.
