Is it just for technology companies?

No. Although we think technology entrepreneurs will get a lot of value from VentureMash, we want to include non-tech and social enterprises as well.

What industries do you support?

We want to support a variety of industries from low-tech to high-tech. Let us know if you think we're missing one that fits your venture.

Is it just for companies pursuing venture capital?

Definitely not. Venture capital is an essential part of innovation and start-up ecosystem. However, we know of too many people with side projects and potentially interesting businesses that will never fit the profile of a venture-funded business.

Does VentureMash support social entrepreneurs?

You will find plenty of startup ventures on VentureMash, but we hope that list also includes numerous social enterprises. The challenges faced by social entrepreneurs are just as great and the need for them to succeed just as strong as "for profit" enterprises.

Are you competing with local associations and membership groups?

We are trying to enhance, not replace, the efforts of numerous associations and groups that support entrepreneurs. We admire the hard work being done by these organizations and we are partnering with many of them in our shared effort to foster entrepreneurship.

Are there VentureMash events?

Right now our focus is on providing an online platform for early-stage ventures. We do not intend to create local events and would rather partner with the numerous local organizations doing great work in this arena.

Can I only post a venture if it’s a legal entity?

We encourage venture listings from all stages of product or service development, including ones just in the interest or idea phase. If you are interested in a particular industry and just want to find others looking to start something in that arena, feel free to create a listing for your venture. We also welcome newly formed companies and even some later stage ventures who are just looking to attract entrepreneurial people.

Why should I post my killer idea online?

We are believers in the "let 1,000 flowers bloom" approach. You need to find a way to talk with people about your venture without giving away the special sauce. The more people that know about your enterprise, the more help you will find and the more feedback you will receive.

How are you protecting my idea?

We are not a clearinghouse for intellectual property. If you require someone to sign an NDA just to hear your idea, VentureMash is not for you. As mentioned above, we feel it is essential for you to pitch your idea, concept or venture without giving away the algorithm, diagram or other item that provides competitive differentiation.

How do I reach out to the creator of a venture listing?

Every profile on VentureMash includes the opportunity to post related social networking profiles, such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Use these existing services or the Contact button to reach out to entrepreneurs.

What is the cost of posting what my venture needs?

It's free, but it's only for ventures. This is an ideal way to get the word out of your need for a particular service provider, hire a freelancer or look for office space.

As a service provider, can I post a need?

This is not the place to promote your services. You can do that by creating a vendor listing. The Needs area is designed to be for ventures looking or needing a good or service.

What is the cost of creating a Vendor listing?

The basic vendor listing is free to service providers who have the ability and desire to support early-stage entrepreneurs. We will be diligent about keeping out vendors whose offerings have no relevance to entrepreneurs.

Are premium listing options available?

We will be offering two additional levels to enhance your listing and increase your firm's visibility on VentureMash.
